MRL Library Director Search
The Morrisson-Reeves Library (MRL) Board of Trustees seeks an experienced leader to serve as an enthusiastic director of our progressive library and manage a staff of 50 employees. Located in East Central Indiana, Morrisson-Reeves Library is a busy library serving Richmond and Wayne County communities. The library is operated with a $1.8 million annual budget that is funded by property taxes. The library has an active Friends of the Library organization.

Richmond offers a variety of cultural and environmental amenities including The Richmond Art Museum, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Civic Theater, Cope Environmental Center, Hayes Arboretum, and Civic Hall Performing Arts Center. There are four colleges located in Richmond with varied events and programs. These colleges are Earlham, IU East, Purdue Polytechnic Institute, and Ivy Tech. We also boast great coffee shops, bakeries, eateries, locally sourced Farmer’s Market, and live music.
Director’s Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Library Board of Trustees, the Director oversees the daily operations of the Library and exercises authority with regard to personnel, financial management, strategic planning, building management, collection development, library automation and expanding information technologies, purchasing, and community (public) relations. The Director administers all aspects of library services with a high level of independent responsibility and accountability and is in compliance with all applicable laws and policies and decisions of the Library Board. Education And Experience Requirements:

- Graduate degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited college or university.
- 5+ years of professional public library experience in a supervisory role.
- Must hold or meet requirements to obtain an Indiana LC1 certification.
- Preference is given for previous experience as a public Library Director or upper-level management.
- Valid driver’s license.
Compensation:
The salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position is covered by the Indiana Public Employees’ Retirement Fund (PERF). The Library has a generous benefits package including:
