Keeping communities engaged and connected is a vital role Morrisson-Reeves Library (MRL) takes very seriously. MRL has reinvented its service model since the pandemic halted in-person library service back in March. Currently, MRL is offering both in-person library services and curbside pick-up, coupled with library staff assisting in selecting reading materials and educational resources for patrons and educators.

In schools, the traditional classroom model has changed drastically through hybrid learning styles. Partnering with educators has always been a strong part of the library’s mission but now more than ever, librarians are being sought out to assist in new and exciting ways. Book suggestions, readers advisory, helping with research projects, and early childhood education are the top services the library continues to provide.
Grab ‘n’ Go – Youth Activity Kits
Spark the imagination of a youngster by picking up an activity/craft kit at the
library. Exciting new kits are created each week and prepared for various age
groups. Some of the activities have been, butterflies, scarecrows, fish, shells,
kaleidoscopes, sensory bottles, bats, and bees.
Tune in for MRL’s Virtual Programs
While the library’s in-house programming is on hold, virtual library programs are continuing. Live and prerecorded videos presented by library staff are broadcast through the library’s website. Stories, music, and original content are shared through Storytimes, Alphabet Adventures, craft classes, #digi-lab and Music and Movement. Private Study Rooms
Study Rooms may be used in the Information Services Area of the library. Call for further details regarding usage.
Digital Library Branch
Unlike the brick and mortar of the library building, the Digital Library Branch offers digital services that are available anytime and from anywhere a WiFi service is accessible. MRL had a strong Digital Library Branch prior to the pandemic but this service has been greatly expanded to offered more educational and entertainment options for patrons.
Through this Branch, MRL offers a variety of digital media services allowing patrons to borrow or stream movies, audiobooks, ebooks, magazines, graphic novels, video lectures, music and TV shows to enjoy on computer, tablet, or phone – and even your TV! Titles can be streamed immediately or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment. The library has tens of thousands of titles to choose from, with more being added daily. It’s easy to get signed up and start using this free service. Simply use your library card and your 4-digit PIN.

Research tools can be useful for legal and medical research, job seeking,
college prep, family history, crafting and auto repair. Students can use the
World Book Encyclopedia to research topics, people, and places.
The MRL Mobile App Makes Library Business Easy
Morrisson-Reeves Library is pleased to announce that it has launched an easy to use Mobile App. The new MRL Library App assists you with searching the library’s catalog, library account login, seeing new arrivals, and you can even scan barcodes of books to see if MRL has them in their collection.
“In an increasingly digital world, intuitive online interactions are a must. I’m excited about the new MRL app because we’ve designed it to give users a simple digital doorway to easily access the library’s many resources and services,” says Systems Administrator, Sarah Morey.
