Celebrating Culture Through Food at One World One Plate

What a day! On September 13, 2025, our community came together for the annual One World One Plate, and it was a feast for all the senses. Since starting in 2015, this event has grown into something truly special. This year, we moved it outside into the north parking lot to make room for the nearly 550 people who came out to celebrate with us.

The air was buzzing with energy, music, and the incredible aromas of food from around the globe. We had eight different local restaurants serving up delicious dishes from India, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.

Beyond the food, there was so much to see and do! The Richmond Art Museum was on hand with a fun, hands-on beaded necklace craft, and our friends from Amigos shared information while getting everyone moving with a lively salsa dancing demonstration. The amazing polka music from accordion player Steve Makofka kept the energy high, and the Friends of Morrisson-Reeves Library had a mini book sale.

It was truly a joy to see so many of you connect with different cultures and each other. We can’t wait to see you all again next year!
