Youth Services Library Assistant, Part Time

We seek an individual who is passionate about youth, with experience in working with children. This 24-hour a week position serves as a paraprofessional, under the supervision of our Youth Services Librarian, providing services to our younger patrons and their caregivers. Responsibilities include public desk duties, shelving, shelf reading, and making reading recommendations. This position has responsibilities directly related to homeschool, preschool, and school outreach.   

Qualifications

  • Positive experience working with children.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer skills with some experience in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email and the Internet.

Skills: Ability to successfully interact and communicate with people of all ages; service oriented, self-motivated; perform job responsibilities with a high level of attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision; work well within a team; basic keyboarding skills and use of email and the Internet.

Hours: Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, Friday, 9:30 am to 1:30 pm and one Saturday every three weeks (with Friday off). No Sundays!

Pay: $14.00 an hour

Benefits: Paid vacation, sick time, holidays, and employee assistance program.
