Get Ready for MRL Story Con: Our First-Ever Fan Convention

Calling all gamers, cosplayers, comic lovers, and pop culture fans. Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, because Morrisson-Reeves Library is transforming into a massive fan convention.

MRL Story Con brings a free, all-ages celebration of nerd, geek, and convention culture right to our community. Patrons can dive into a gaming campaign, show off an epic costume, and learn from local experts. This unique lineup truly offers something for every library patron.

Celebrating Our Summer Readers

MRL Story Con is also the grand finale of our Summer Reading Program. This summer, more than 700 of you read books and completed fun activities to earn prizes. Story Con is our big community party to celebrate all of your hard work and creativity.

What to Expect at Story Con

We have packed the library from wall to wall with interactive activities. To help you plan your day, here is a quick look at what we have lined up.

Gaming: Enjoy board games, card games, video games, and a Dungeons and Dragons mini-campaign.
Cosplay: Come dressed as your favorite character and show off your look at the Cosplay Table.
Creativity & Crafts: Drop by the Lego free-build station, coloring tables, puzzle area, or the Pokémon scavenger hunt.
Expert Panels: Learn about filmmaking, esports, DnD 101, and retro toys during panels moderated by Rick Duncan.

Our Community Partners

This exciting day is a massive collaboration with local creators, organizations, and businesses. You can explore the library to visit interactive tables and booths hosted by our fantastic partners.

Our lineup includes Indiana University East, Retro Rush Arcade, Table Games, Polyframes, Comic Relief, and the Star Wars costuming group 501st Legion: Bloodfin Garrison. You will also find the Wayne County Master Gardeners, Women’s Workshop Richmond, Richmond’s Toy Vault, Richmond Civic Theatre, Every Child Can Read, and Dungeon Masters Spencer Marsh and Jason Yingst.
