MRL Joins Evergreen

MRL has joined the Evergreen Indiana Library Consortium. This significant step forward will give cardholders access to nearly 8 million items from various libraries across Indiana.

MRL has always been committed to improving the lives of our community through knowledge, learning, and access to information. By joining the Evergreen Indiana Library Consortium, MRL is taking a substantial step towards realizing this goal.

The Evergreen Indiana Library Consortium is a growing network of over 130 public, school, and institutional libraries throughout Indiana that have joined together to share library resources. This resource-sharing initiative provides cost savings for the library and increased access to almost 8 million library items for our community.

Starting Tuesday, April 30th, the MRL catalog will show materials available from other libraries as well as MRL materials. This means that with an MRL card, patrons can now request and borrow books, movies, music, and more from all other participating libraries in Indiana.

Joining the Evergreen consortium will bring numerous benefits including an expanded collection, cost savings, seamless borrowing, and improved resource sharing. Our online catalog will also get an updated look.

“Joining the Evergreen lending consortium is monumental for MRL and the communities we serve,” said Dena Little, Morrisson-Reeves Library Director. “This allows us to provide our patrons with millions more resources, and integrate a fresh new catalog that will be easier to navigate and discover new-to-you books and movies. We are so excited to be able to leverage this opportunity, and bring MRL to the next level.”

Detailed information about MRL joining Evergreen can be found here on this page of our website.

Change in Services Leading up to the Switch

To facilitate the transition to Evergreen, some MRL services will be temporarily unavailable. Between Wednesday, April 24th and Tuesday, April 30th, MRL’s patron database will be unavailable. This means that patrons will not be able to log into their MRL account to pay library fees, place holds on materials, or access their account. Library users can still check out materials in person with their library card, use Libby and our online resources, and return library materials.

The library will be closed all day on Monday, April 29th to finalize the transition process and update our systems. MRL will reopen on Tuesday, April 30th with full access to the Evergreen catalog and materials.

Evergreen Celebration
To celebrate this exciting new chapter, we invite the public to attend a kickoff celebration on Friday, May 3rd, from 4-5 p.m., the library will showcase the newly added materials and provide live demonstrations on how to use the new catalog system. Light refreshments will be provided, the Wayne County Area of Commerce will perform a ribbon cutting and Richmond Mayor Ron Oler is expected to deliver a proclamation.

This starts a new chapter for Morrisson-Reeves Library. We hope our patrons will take full advantage of all the benefits that come with being a member of the Evergreen Indiana Library Lending Consortium.
